You may have heard that curb appeal is critically important when listing your home for sale. This is your chance to make a big first impression on potential buyers. If the outside of your home does not look appealing, then you will most likely not get a buyer to look inside your home. As the saying goes and attributed to either Will Rogers or Oscar Wilde, “You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.” Your home’s exterior curb appeal is the first impression when people are looking at a home to purchase.
Sprucing up the exterior of your home does not have to break the bank. Simple things can make a big difference.
- Is your front door clean and freshly painted or stained?
- Have you polished the doorknob?
- Are your screens on the windows free of cobwebs and spiders?
- Are you windows sparkly and clean?
- Have your mowed your lawn or raked the leaves so that the yard looks great?
Sweeping the sidewalk to your front entrance and cleaning off the driveway is another area that can add to your curb appeal. Something as simple as a pot of flowers (there are cold weather flowers like pansies that will stand the cooler temperatures in east Tennessee) on your porch or near your front door is an inviting sign that says, “Welcome!”
